Sober Transport and Accompanied Travel
A transport assignment has a defined beginning and end: an agreed journey, practical accompaniment, and a destination handoff. It is separate from medical transport and from ongoing companion support.
Start with the journey and the receiving plan
Clarify departure and destination, requested dates, travel mode, the person’s agreement, and who receives them. If the trip leads to treatment, confirm admissions arrangements directly with the receiving program before relying on the itinerary.
The Firm’s broader treatment transport coordination considers different transport needs. This page concerns a proposed nonclinical sober escort or companion role, not ambulance, nursing, secure transport, or emergency response.
Ask what accompaniment includes
A proposed Recovery & Wellness Guide assignment may involve agreed travel logistics, accompaniment, and communication around the handoff. The specific tasks, travel responsibilities, hours, and exclusions need to be discussed before departure.
- Who accompanies the traveler, and what relevant experience applies?
- Who books and pays for tickets, ground travel, luggage, lodging, and changes?
- What identification, accessibility arrangements, and travel requirements need confirmation?
- Who handles a delay, missed connection, changed admission, or withdrawn consent?
- Who confirms arrival and what information may be shared with permission?
Medical needs determine the appropriate transport
A companion is not a substitute for qualified medical assessment of travel needs. If nursing, medical monitoring, psychiatric care, or emergency transport is required, an appropriate provider must address that role.
A nonclinical Guide does not prescribe, change medication, or provide detoxification. Do not assume authority to physically compel an adult to travel. Immediate danger requires emergency services.
Define where the journey ends
A destination handoff might be to an agreed family contact or a confirmed receiving program. Define what happens if the receiving arrangement changes and who makes the next decision.
If support is also needed after arrival, scope that separately. A 3–7-day transition or longer implementation assignment is different from a transport-only engagement.
Request travel planning without assuming a reservation
Provide broad origin and destination, requested timing, and whether a receiving arrangement is confirmed. Do not include personal travel documents or medical records in the website form.
Use the deployment inquiry. Availability, suitability, logistics, fees, and travel arrangements must be confirmed. For vacations, work trips, or events, see travel and event companion support.
Frequently asked questions
Is sober transport medical transport?
Not in the nonclinical accompaniment scope described here. Medical or emergency transport requires the appropriate qualified provider.
Does a transport assignment include ongoing support?
Only if it is explicitly scoped. Define the destination handoff and any separate transition or companion assignment.
Can I request a short-notice trip?
You can inquire about timing. A request does not confirm personnel, travel arrangements, or immediate availability.
