Alignment without uniformity
The Family Alignment Tool
Important adults do not have to agree about everything. They do need one workable objective, fewer contradictions, assigned responsibilities, and a plan for disagreement.
Complete it independently, then compare
Parents, co-parents, partners, siblings, grandparents, and other key supports can complete this map separately. Differences are useful information: they show where facts, objectives, financial support, safety thresholds, communication, and boundaries remain unresolved.
The result is a working discussion draft—not a contract, clinical assessment, or legal plan. Avoid entering names or identifying health information. Print locally if you want to compare maps.
What alignment requires
- Separate verified facts from suspicions and assumptions
- Name the shared objective before debating tactics
- Define what health-directed support remains available
- Define what the family will stop funding, hiding, permitting, or repeatedly repairing
- Assign one communicator and clear logistics owners
- Set safety thresholds that override the ordinary plan
- Agree how information is shared and how private exceptions are handled
- Choose a review date instead of renegotiating during every crisis

Alignment without uniformity: we do not have to agree about everything. We do have to stop working against one another.
Private by design: selections stay in this browser and are not submitted or stored. Each important adult can complete the tool independently, print the result, and compare plans without entering names or health details.

Common questions
Must everyone hold the same personal boundary?
No. Some boundaries are individual. Alignment means those differences are explicit and do not secretly undermine the shared safety and support plan.
What if one relative refuses to participate?
Build the clearest plan possible among the actual decision-makers. Define what information is shared, which resources each person controls, and how the family will respond to private exceptions.
Is the printed map legally binding?
No. It is an educational planning aid. Obtain qualified legal, clinical, or child-safety guidance when the situation requires it.
A better plan can start with one conversation.
